the discourse surrounding there being no meaning behind names like mufasa, sarafina, etc. is long dead by now (thank god) but even so, i figured i'd share some neat little resources if anyone cares about there being verifiable meaning to tlk names. i'm a linguist, studied it in college, and care about language a lot, especially indigenous languages that are typically used for ~* exotic points *~ so i use two swahili-english dictionaries to look into names and make new ones. africanlanguages. i know the name might make some skeptical but it's a dictionary supported by linguists, researchers of african languages, and corpus builders. glosbe. i have slightly less confidence in this dictionary as a primary source as community-based, but it seems to also be my linguists and/or people who simply care about the language, and when paired with aflang, it's a strong source. i wouldn't recommend google translate as a primary source. as your high school french teacher might have told you, it
